Systematically and violently, he pulls Kate’s new world apart with devasting consequences for everyone around him, including Kate who must face up to the lie she told.

My Review

A thriller set in the Highlands of Scotland which for me is always such a great setting. The story follows Kate and her son Joe, who move there after her husband is jailed. Their life in their new home seems to be going well until a face from the past appears, Ryan. I thought the book had a great sense of location, it was well-paced and the plot flowed well. I like tension throughout and this book had that for me. I didn’t like the character – Ryan but it was his presence that kept the tension in the plot and for me this was a great thriller and one I would recommend. As the title states there is a lie which has been told and I enjoyed the reading journey to see how the story wrapped up in the end.

4 stars from me.
